Local, Honest & Experienced

Quokka Beds is an Australian family-run business who keep things fair and honest. We simply use high-quality, trusted and eco-friendly materials in straightforward, transparent designs – without the crafty marketing lingo.

We won't sleep happy until you do!

Starting out in 1988 as Brett’s Beds + Futons, Brett created a huge range of custom-made bed bases and mattresses – constantly refining his methods and materials.

We still get customers telling us about how their Brett’s bed is still going strong 10, 20 or even 30 years later!

With Brett’s son Daniel joining in 2019, we rebranded to Quokka Beds to join the national, free-delivery market – completely refining our range with a focus on only the best, most trusted materials and products.

Our mission is simple; to offer Australian consumers quality, long-lasting bedding in the fight against our fast furniture crisis.

And our passion for customer satisfaction is reflected in our motto; “we won’t sleep happy until you do”. No matter the issue or cause, we want to ensure you can sleep happy for many years to come.

30+ Years of Experience

Starting in 1988 as Brett's Beds + Futons - we are still 100% Australian family-owned and operated, and take great pride in the service we offer.

Long, Genuine Warranties

We offer the best warranties because we are confident in our materials - 10 years for our Pillow, 20 years for our Mattress and a lifetime for our Base.

Our Sustainability Initiatives

Beyond our many eco-accreditations, importantly, all our main materials are 100% sustainably-sourced – meaning there are no lasting effects on the environment. We also minimise our packaging and production waste as much as possible.

1. Sustainable Sourcing

At Quokka Beds, our dedication to sustainability is woven into everything we do.

By choosing Quokka Beds, you’re not only investing in unparalleled comfort but also in a vision that prioritizes the well-being of our planet and its people.

Our plantation timber adheres to FSC Certification and PEFC Certification standards ensuring our timber products uphold the highest ecological, social, and ethical standards throughout the supply chain.

Our latex is certified by ECO-INSTITUT (Germany) and GOLS as 100% natural and organic botanical latex without any synthetic or petroleum-based additives, ensuring the quality and healthiness of your mattress.

2. Eco-Friendly Packaging

Our commitment to the environment extends beyond our products. We understand the profound impact packaging can have on our planet, which is why we’ve embraced eco-friendly packaging solutions.

Every package we dispatch outside WA uses recyclable and sustainably sourced boxes from The Box Man (WA), with next-to-no plastics or styrofoam. We also use recyclable bubble wrap if needed.

Local Perth customers, whether picking up or receiving delivery, will get their order without any packaging, except for a single sheet of repurposed plastic per mattress layer (plastic which would otherwise have been thrown out).

3. Reducing Waste

We are constantly seeking ways to minimise wastage at every turn. One example is how we use latex offcuts as the perfect protective material for our beds, ensuring that even our remnants are put to good use.

Additionally, we are stringent about our packaging practices, employing materials only when absolutely necessary. This not only reduces our environmental footprint but also underscores our dedication to resource efficiency.

We are also creative with our use of timber offcuts, using subpar pieces for hidden sections like the hidden crossbeam in our floating design, or donating as firewood.

About Our Natural Bamboo Covers

Why do you offer 2 covers for this size?

We are always looking for ways to improve our environmental impact, which is why we switched to our new Organic Cotton Covers as soon as we could – but it meant we have some very good quality stock leftover. Rather than put it to waste, we decided to offer it at a small discount to those who want it. Further, due to worldwide shortages and container delays, we may run out of stock of our Quilted covers, and may only be able to offer other covers for some sizes.

How is the ‘Bamboo’ cover different?

The main difference is our Cotton covers are made of 100% Certified Organic material, although our Bamboo covers were still sustainably sourced and 100% Natural. Both covers feel the same on the latex (acting as a minimal comfort layer to protect and hold the latex in place), both have zips on 3 sides and both are cold-machine washable. However, the Bamboo cover is more stretchy, so it can actually be a little easier to put the mattress together. And you can always switch to a Cotton cover later if you wish, which we would do for half-price (Queen $240 $120 or King $290 $145). Thanks for your support!
