Each of these one-of-a-kind headboards is crafted from a single slab of sustainable Australian camphor laurel, highlighting the tree’s natural edge and stunning grain patterns.
Although prized for its beauty and durability, camphor laurel is an invasive species introduced to Australia in the 1800s. The tree aggressively displaces native vegetation, harms local ecosystems, and disrupts waterways. To combat this, camphor trees are frequently removed to restore native forests.
In addition to being sustainably sourced, the wood’s natural antimicrobial properties and subtle, natural fragrance (which fades over time) make it ideal for functional and elegant household pieces.
These unique headboards will not match the timber of your frame, nor should they! The unique grains and colour of Camphor provide a great stand-out feature on any base – but we suggest selecting Rose Gum (Clear) or Tasmanian Oak (Clear) so the outer frame blends in, rather than stand out too much.
