  • Covers normal domestic use only.

Care

  • For maximum protection, we would highly recommend a mattress cover
  • Always use the mattress with its 2 included covers. To clean, unzip them and hand wash with cold water and mild detergent. Air dry. Can be spot cleaned and dry-cleaned.
  • For a quick wash – you can simply unzip the top layer of your bamboo cover and wash it – without lifting or moving the mattress at all!

Pure 100% Natural Latex Mattress

Our layers of latex are not glued together and come in 3 different firmness levels. This means we can send you a custom latex mattress with your desired feel, plus you can rearrange the layers at home within the zippered covers to refine your comfort later.

Natural latex in 3 firmness levels

Sleep tight knowing you’re sleeping on the best – we use 100% natural Dunlop latex rubber (verified by eco-INSTITUT® in Germany) because it’s the world’s #1 eco-conscious, high-performance material for support, consistency and temperature-control – far superior to any foam.

  • Up to 3 layers of 7.5cm-thick 100% natural botanical latex
  • Each layer comes in Soft, Medium or Firm for the perfect mattress, with adjustable firmness. Read more below >>

Natural latex is fast becoming Australia’s preferred mattress material for all types of sleepers. Its adaptability, long life and comfort level far outcompete traditional mattresses. Compared to synthetic latex and standard foams, the unique springiness of natural latex means that once pressure is removed, it returns to its original shape almost immediately. The latex almost pushes back against you, to constantly and fully-support you the moment you move, while offering a soft and body-contouring sleep surface without creating pain-points or letting you sink in to your mattress. Also, it will retain this springiness and support for at least 20 years, where other foams will start to significantly lose softness and support after just a few months or years. Natural latex is also inherently resistant to moisture, mould, mildew, dust mites and can mean a much healthier and allergy-free sleep. Further, contrary to what some believe, the particularly open-cell structure allowed by the quality of natural latex promotes great air-ventilation – the best defence against ‘sleeping-hot’ and ensuring your mattress does not retain heat from your body.

  • To summarise: 100% natural latex is able to offer both soft and durable support that brings a unique springiness and comfort that doesn’t fade over time.

Our honest and open latex specifications – see below for our Density and Indentation Load Deflection (ILD) ratings for each layer. You may be able to compare these figures to other latex mattresses you have seen, in shops or online:

  • Soft Dunlop Latex – D65 – ILD 14-17
  • Medium Dunlop Latex – D75 – ILD 18-25
  • Firm Dunlop Latex – D95 – ILD 34-40

Choose your layers

Within the two zippered covers (an organic cotton inner cover and a natural bamboo outer), each layer can easily be swapped around to change its feel.

  • No “one-size-fits-all” firmness
  • Refine your comfort after purchase

Guaranteed for 20 years

Forget about a sagging mattress after 5-10 years – we offer a full 20-year warranty. And since we’ve been in business for over 30 years already, we are confident you’ll never need to use it.

  • Durability score of 100/100 from 30,000 cycles of 140kg
  • Trust the people in the industry with 30 years of happy customers

Choosing the perfect latex mattress

Bringing the best strategies from the European and American markets, we’ve refined our 100% latex range and now offer you just 2 decisions to make: how many layers in your mattress (2 or 3), and its initial firmness (Medium-Soft, Medium or Medium-Firm). Further, since we do not glue our layers together, we also give you the ability to rearrange the layers within the zippered bamboo cover, or even exchange one with us for free.

Our recommended configurations

For each option, the tables below show what layers you will get inside your mattress. For example, a 3-layer Medium mattress will contain 1 layer of Latex Firm and 2 layers of Latex Medium. The vast majority of people will suit a mattress within this range (from Medium-Soft to Medium -Firm), and it is what we strongly recommend to first-time buyers. However, if you know exactly what you want (maybe you have purchased from us before or tested our mattresses in-store), you can simply add a note on checkout to order a custom configuration.

Please Note: The “D” figures in each latex layer stand for Density (higher = firmer). The “feels like” figures are based on ‘1’ as very soft and ’10’ as very firm, where the ‘average’ mattress sold in shops between a 6 and 7. Each row represents a 7.5cm layer, while our covers add 1~2cm of height.

What about using all “Firm”? Although some people love it, we wouldn’t recommend it unless you’ve tried a very firm latex mattress before! (feels 9.5 / 10)

What option should I choose?

Usually, our customers know what they like (softer, medium or firmer) and with all the information provided here, can order the right mattress without the need for rearranging or exchanging the layers later. Our goal is to get you on the right mattress the first time, so please read through the information below and feel free to get in touch if you’re not sure!

  • For 2-layer mattresses, unless you know you want a firmer mattress, the majority of customers would suit a Medium (Soft on top of Firm). Due to the quality of our natural latex, this provides a great balance of a soft feel but generous support (with 15cm of latex!). However, if you know you like firm, go with a Medium-Firm – and you then also have the option to flip it if it still not firm enough. In particular, back or front-sleepers and heavier people may suit a firmer mattress.
  • For 3-layer mattresses, the options can go much softer, while still providing full support. Unless you 100% know you want a firmer mattress, we would suggest most customers (especially those new to latex) to start with a Medium-Soft – that way, you can always move the Medium layer to the top and/or the Firm layer to the middle to make it firmer if need be.
  • However… Comparing standard foam or spring mattresses to the feel of latex is difficult. Your old mattress may have developed a ‘sinking-in’ feeling compared to the quality, spring and bounce of our natural latex – so some may find it feels a little too firm to begin with (while our latex is also much more durable, providing consistent support for 20+ years). Therefore, if you’re not sure, we would suggest choosing a slightly softer mattress.

Don’t get us wrong – our 2-layer latex mattresses still have more latex in them then just about any other ‘latex’ mattress sold to you in shops, and are miles more comfortable, supportive and durable than any standard foam mattress. However, our 3-layer mattresses allows for even greater ‘give’ in the mattress for a slightly plusher, more-luxurious feel with more support than it’s 2-layer equivalent. This is especially true in softer mattresses, where the extra layer allows for a more gradual and supportive change from firm at the bottom to the soft comfort layer at the top. For firmer mattresses, the differences will be less noticeable.

  • If you like firmer mattresses, generally sleep without pain, or on a tighter budget; go for a 2-layer.
  • If you like softer mattresses, have some back pain, or want the best comfort available in the market; go for a 3-layer.

Obviously, only you will know best what feel of mattress you like – and this should be the main deciding factor. More generally, heavier people or side-sleepers should go with a slightly softer mattress, while lighter people and back or front-sleepers should go with a slightly firmer mattress for the proper support. We suggest you use the “feels” like figures in the tables above, where the ‘average’ mattress out there might feel like a “7/10”.

However, comparing standard foam or spring mattresses to the quality and bounce of our natural latex is difficult. Your old mattress may have developed more of a ‘sinking-in’ feeling compared to the quality, spring and bounce of our natural latex – so some may find our latex feels a little too firm to begin with. Also, our natural latex provides far greater support and durability than standard mattresses, so some people find they can go slightly softer while still feeling fully-supported, and you can feel confident this same feel will continue for years to come.

In short: yes. The layers are not glued together meaning you can unzip the cover and rearrange the layers. However, for the most part it is only possible to make your mattress firmer, but not softer – another reason we recommend choosing a slightly softer mattress if you’re not sure. Of course, this only allows for a slight change and it is still crucial to try to get the firmness right from the start (and most customers do seem to get it right). If at first you don’t like the firmness of your mattress, we would recommend sleeping on it for at least 10 nights to really get a feel for it and let your body adjust from your old mattress, before flipping the mattress or rearranging the layers.

To summarise the changes you can make by rearranging or flipping your mattress:

  • If you buy a 2-layer Medium-Firm mattress, you can flip it to make it firmer. With other 2-layer mattresses, no changes are possible.
  • If you buy any 3-layer mattress, you can bring a firmer layer higher up to make the mattress 1-2 levels firmer, but not any softer.

Yes – if you still have not found the perfect comfort level, we offer our Perth customers the chance to exchange a layer for free! Just take the layer to our Malaga showroom and we’ll give you another (best to contact us first). If you would like to upgrade from a 2-layer to a 3-layer mattress, unfortunately we cannot accept returns on the bamboo & cotton covers due to hygiene reasons, however we will gladly facilitate the purchase of 1 extra layer and a new bamboo & cotton cover to match, just get in touch.

Organic, antibacterial & sustainable

We don’t hide behind technical lingo – we simply use the highest-quality, most-trusted natural materials available on the worldwide market today. Beyond our many eco-accreditations, importantly, all our materials are 100% sustainably-sourced – meaning there are no lasting effects on the environment.

Our organically-sourced latex from Vietnam is certified by ECO-institut (Germany) as 100% natural botanical latex with no added petroleum-based or synthetic latex, also meeting strict standards for pollutants and harmful emissions. This ensures there are no additives in our latex that could damage the quality, consistency or healthiness of your mattress. Our natural latex has also passed stringent durability tests, which is one of the reasons we can offer a market-leading 20-year warranty. Further, our latex uses the ‘Dunlop’ method of production due to its lower environmental footprint and durability advantages over the ‘Talalay’ method.

  • Quality tested by eco-INSTITUT® (Germany) for containing 100% natural latex rubber free of harmful pollutants and emissions
  • Naturally hypoallergenic that repels dust mites, mould and mildew to fight allergies
  • Durability tested (scoring 100/100) for little resilience or firmness-loss after 30,000 load cycles of 140kg (TUV EN 1957-2012 tested in Netherlands)
  • Additionally, our supplier uses bio-fuel for electricity and has an all-round clean production process (as certified by ISO 14001:2015).

Bamboo has many environmental and practical advantages compared to other fibres used for outer mattress covers. Bamboo plants are world-renowned for their sustainability because of their very high rate of growth – once harvested, it can return to full size within 12 months, leaving little to no lasting impact on the environment. Further, it is a resilient and water-efficient plant which doesn’t need help from fertilisers or excessive watering to maintain its growth, while also being a carbon neutral fibre – absorbing at least as much carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as it releases during harvesting.

  • 100% sustainably-sourced
  • Naturally hypoallergenic, antibacterial and breathable

We use a heavy duty foam for quality support that is designed to maintain comfort and support levels for longer than almost all other conventional foams. Our supplier are very proud of their VPF technology, giving you a better quality foam and a cleaner, greener product. Our support foam has a superb density of 35 kg/m3. With foam, density = quality, and is what allows a mattress to last longer than others (note: this does not necessarily affect firmness)

  • GECA-certified (The Good Environmental Choice label – GECA FFFv2.1i-2010) with virtually zero emissions in production, containing no CFCs, no VOCs, and exceeding Australasian & Global environmental regulations.
  • Infused with ‘CompriShield’ – a natural, sustainable, bio-based microbial control solution derived from coconut oil – which ensures complete dust mite, allergy, mould and bacteria protection of your mattress
  • Outperforms all other conventional foams

"Great Latex mattress"

We were after a latex mattress to replace an old innerspring one due to health concerns. Looked at heaps of different ones and the prices always seemed super expensive. We found Brett's and they were locally made, quick turnaround and well priced compared to others. Couldn't be happier.

We purchased a custom made king size marri bed from Brett's Futons, after being sadly disappointed at the lack of local timber used in bed frames from the major bed retailers. The bed frame is beautifully made and has a unique design with a central supporting beam and leg so it won't dip in the middle over time. Excellent value too, paid slightly less than the ugly ensemble bases. Would recommend this company to anyone.

"Best mattress I've ever had!"

We bought a queen latex mattress (firm) a year ago, and I can honestly say it's the most comfortable mattress I've ever owned. We ordered it at a busy time of year so there was a 2 week wait, but from the day we brought it home we both loved it. We both have bad backs and have had no back pain whilst sleeping since buying it...even during pregnancy I felt fully supported and never had an ache. I also love that it's natural latex covered in a layer of wool and then cotton. Not organic, but certainly a lot better than most mattresses on the market! I was a bit surprised that the cotton fabric covering it is so thin; the futon we previously owned had a really heavy calico which I did prefer. But with a good mattress protector (we use a huge wool blanket) we've not had any issues. I would definitely recommend Brett's as the best place in Perth to buy a mattress.

I bought a queen size latex/foam mattress from Brett's after he gave me detailed information and advice as I have longstanding back pain. I have slept on the mattress on my bed with slats for a few months now and I'm pleased to say that my back pain has reduced significantly and most nights I have no pain whilst sleeping. I also got a latex memory pillow from Brett and this has eliminated my shoulder discomfort. I would highly recommend Brett's for your bedding needs.
